MC303-Darkstar and MC505

I've put some videos on youtube that pair a Roland MC303 groovebox with a Redsound Darkstar virtual analogue synth. Supposedly (from online sources anyway) these synths are much reviled. I think that with a bit of work they could be usable (although this is not really evident from the videos !). Also, I took the Darkstar apart to check some of the switches and noticed it uses an old Analog devices ADSP2181 device for the main DSP. I have an old design environment for this device somewhere, if I can ever find it again. I wonder if its possible to re-jig some code for this, or if anyone has modified this unit.

Anyway, the MC303 was used as a sequencer for some of its own voices and for the Darkstar voices. The instruments on the MC303 were set to External to allow them to play the Darkstar voices. Some of the Darkstar voices were modified manually and also by using the Edisyn editor software (highly recommended as it works with a lot of hard to program synths). I think some concerted work with this could actually yield some OK sounds.

I've also put some videos up of testing an MC505. I basically used the pre-set patterns and modified some of the voices / tones slightly. I want to try and do some dynamic modification, but the unit can go wild when altering the resonance and filter cut-off (same using the D-Beam). It's ok when its run through speakers etc, but recording can cause massive clipping, so I need to address this.
