Behringer Grind First Try Out Patches
Just finally got access to a Behringer Grind a couple of days ago. Currently in the process of trying it out with various patches.
I finally got access to a Behringer Grind a couple of days ago. I was looking at a Behringer Brains a little while ago, to patch up to some other modular and semi-modular gear. But then the Grind was released. I quite like the idea of semi-modular gear and liked the look of the Grind, as it can be used in stand-alone mode...... saves having to set up everything else.
Anyway as soon as I got it, I started trying it out with the patch points. I really like that there is a patch point to change the oscillator model, via CV control. Still trying to work this out..... But if you set the model up under CV control, from the keyboard (or an external CV such as the Arturia Keystep), you can get the model to change automatically. This can potentially lead to some interesting changes in the sound.
I've noticed on the Grind, that there are some extra spaces for oscillator models (mentioned as "expansion" in the manual). I'm hoping that Behringer will release some firmware in the future that will add to these models. I'm also thinking that it may be possible to hack the Grind to have user defined oscillator models, I probably wont get round to doing this, as I have some of my own hardware to build. But hopefully, someone might do it.
I've put a first and second try out video up on YouTube, just using the Grind with an Arturia keystep for sequencing. The second video actually details the patch examples.
When I get round to it, some patch books for this and other synths will be available on this site (albeit for a nominal Very low fee).... I hope someone is interested !
I'm planning to add some more patch videos soon, with just the Grind. But I'm also planning on doing some cross patching with the Edge, Crave, Neutron, Proton, 2600, AE Modular, Volca Modular, Peak etc, etc.
A couple of videos are lined below. Please watch, like and Subscribe if you get the chance.
